On September 4th, 2025, the PostgreSQL community gathered in Vienna for a memorable and skillful prepared event: PGDay Austria 2025. Proventa AG was at the event as a Gold sponsor showing our commitment to PostgreSQL and its thriving community. As the event has now come to a close, it’s time to reflect on the incredible moments, the wealth of knowledge shared, and the lasting connections made during this gathering of PostgreSQL enthusiasts.
PGDay Austria brought together new and longterm PostgreSQL fans. The event featured three tracks packed with interesting sessions which made it difficult to choose the right one to listen to. From technical talks to lightning talks, the day was packed with value, insights, and inspiration for all who attended. PGDay Austria 2025 featured an array of industry-leading experts who shared their knowledge on some of the most pressing topics in the PostgreSQL community: performance tuning, scalability, high-availability solutions, and the integration of PostgreSQL in cloud-native architectures.
Beyond the technical sessions, PGDay Austria was a vibrant space for networking and community-building. The different present sponsors organized small activities for the community with the chance to win some nice prizes. Proventa AG organized a challenge where attendees had to build a small Lego elefant, consisting of round about 40 pieces. The person who built the elefant the fastest was awarded with a Lego Ferrari set with over 1300 pieces. It was great to see so many people engaging in this challenge and periodically coming back during the day to check their ranking.
Vienna, with its stunning architecture and rich cultural heritage, provided the ideal backdrop for the event. The venue itself, the Apothekertrakt at Schloss Schönbrunn, located in the heart of the city, offered a fantastic blend of professional amenities and a welcoming atmosphere for networking and collaboration. Between the sessions, drinks, snacks and lunch were provided, giving attendees the chance to relax and connect with fellow PostgreSQL enthusiasts.
While PGDay Austria 2025 has now concluded, the next big PostgreSQL event is already on the horizon: PostgreSQL Conference Europe 2025, scheduled to take place from October 21th to 24th, 2025, in Riga. This conference promises to be another exciting opportunity for the PostgreSQL community to come together, share knowledge, and celebrate the power of open-source database technology.
See you next time in Riga!
