Last week, we had the pleasure of attending PGConf.DE 2025 in Berlin as a Platinum Sponsor – and what a conference it was! As always, the German PostgreSQL community came together with energy, expertise, and enthusiasm. This year’s event was particularly special, as it marked a significant milestone in the growth and maturity of PostgreSQL in Europe: the conference lasted for two days.

The event featured a packed agenda, with talks ranging from deep dives into PostgreSQL internals to practical case studies on performance tuning, high availability, and migration strategies. We were thrilled to see so many familiar faces and to meet new members of the community. The atmosphere was electric, with attendees eager to share their experiences and learn from one another.

We were particularly impressed by the session on CloudNativePG with GitOps by Proventa’s Theodor Herlo. His talk offered a great look into the automation and operational flexibility that GitOps brings to managing PostgreSQL in Kubernetes environments. It was an inspiring demonstration of how infrastructure as code principles can streamline PostgreSQL lifecycle management.

Another highlight was the keynote on the successful integration of PostgreSQL at Finanz Informatik by Diego Calvo de Nó. It was fascinating to hear how PostgreSQL was adopted in a highly regulated and large-scale financial environment, and the practical challenges the team overcame. This talk clearly showed how mature PostgreSQL has become for enterprise-grade deployments, especially in critical sectors like banking and finance.

Finally, the Open Alliance for PostgreSQL Education, a collaborative iniative involving Cybertec, Data Egret and Proventa AG, was launched and presented to the public. Its goal is to promote high-quality, vendor-neutral training opportunities for PostgreSQL. By providing standardized training content, and support for instructors worldwide, the alliance aims to broaden PostgreSQL knowledge and strengthen the community in a sustainable way.

Beyond the technical sessions, PGConf.DE 2025 was, above all, about people. We had the opportunity to reconnect with many long-time friends and partners, as well as to meet new faces from across the growing PostgreSQL ecosystem. It was great to see so many of our customers attending and contributing to the discussions – your feedback, ideas, and use cases are what keep this community vibrant and forward-looking.

A huge thank you to the organizers and volunteers for making the event run so smoothly, and to everyone who came by to chat with us between sessions. We’re already looking forward to next year.

Until then – keep querying!
